Doctors may choose not to draw blood in the office ifinsurance won't cover it. (My doctor once took a drop for sugar testing, and the insurance company said *I* had to pay for it.) My Husband's doctor often draws the blood himself, because Husband is a difficult patient and he's familiar with him; I sit there mildly annoyed because he doesn't glove as the phlebotomists do.
