There’s a bunch of good news in the last 24 hours. First and biggest: I can’t believe how little news coverage there’s been of Mahmoud Abbas’s statement that the Palestinian Unity govenment would recognize Israel. My mother was nearly crying when I told her – what a wonderful way to go into the new year. Of course, it all became considerably less exciting when Ismail Haniyeh, the Palestinian Prime Minister essentially said, “No, we won’t,” but even Hamas seems to be making a few concessions. I can’t believe how underreported this is.
In more personal news, I have sold the MR2 Spyder! There’s still some paperwork to do. (I still haven’t got the fax the $&^% bank is supposedly sending me as of three hours ago to fax on to the buyers’ loan company because Heaven forbid they send it directly on my request.) But I have a check for some earnest money and a verbal agreement, so yay!
Also, Rudder got confirmation today that we definitely do have the apartment he liked – we were just making sure that the cat was OK and that everything was confirmed, and now it is! So this weekend after recovering from whatever I do tomorrow I can send out an email telling everyone I know that we’re moving, where we’re going and what we’re doing and what our new addresses will be.
(The email address there in sidebar will continue to work. If you need to be included on the general email to get further info, let me know.)
