Go, Johnny, go
I know I’m coming late to this and it’s probably old news for everyone else. But in case anyone did miss Johnny Weir’s eloquent statement to the press, here it is. Fabulous.
a little bit of Olympics
Taiwan Olympic coverage sucks (in general and even worse for the Winter Olympics. I finally just went ahead and bought the skating on iTunes, so at least I can see one sport, even if the competition is actually over. Two quick thoughts after the men’s short program: Whoever choreographed Brezina (to Puttin’ on the Ritz) […]
hello? hello?
I just got a call from my husband’s butt – at least, judging from the ambient noise and the lack of his voice on the other end, I presume his cellphone got stuck funny in his pocket and decided to redial the last call. That gives a new meaning to the phrase “booty call”.
some annoyances and one Good Thing
So I went to the doctor today. They began by taking a urine sample of course; I had some forebodings when I saw it (crystal clear; I’ve been drinking a *lot* of water) and they proved out. The doctor said that there is no trace of a UTI. The annoying part of this is that […]
the continuing Kindle saga
Tuesday evening it was still showing as delayed, so I emailed Amazon – at that point I had no reason to think there were problems, but I did suggest that they might want to list more accurate dates for delivery. It’s not like anything ever glides through Customs without delay, in any country! They emailed […]
still delayed
The Kindle is still showing as “possibly delayed”; I have written Amazon to suggest that they put more reasonable shipping estimates on their international courier shipping. (They said it would be two days; I knew it was unlikely to be true, but waited until almost the end of our last trip to order it just […]
delayed
The tracking message for the package with my Kindle currently says “Possible delay in delivery due to extra carrier processing” as of 2:55AM February 23 – customs, I presume. This is especially odd since it arrived in the country at 4:17PM Feb 21 – what were they doing with it for a day and a […]
OJ and organization (also, tenterhooks)
I’m not quite running on all cylinders today; partly this is because I’m warding off an encroaching UTI with copious amounts of fluids, some of which are orange juice. (I don’t think cranberry juice would be easy to find here.) Partly is because I’ve been wide awake since 5AM. Around 6 I ave up on […]
damson
When we got back to Taiwan it was cold: apparently it rained through Chinese New Year, and the temperature in our bedroom was only about 60F (15C). Definitely weather for snuggling – and knitting! And I’m pleased that I get to wear my Rogue sweater today, since I really thought it would be too hot […]
more photos
The rest of the photos are up – these are from Madikwe Game Reserve, near the Botswana border. (I finally got around to reading The Number 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, bought in the Jo’berg airport – we were just about an hour south of where those books are set, staying at the Impodimo Game Lodge […]
