1. There’s been a small policy change lately, and I Do Not Like it. THey used to have their recommendations grouped into “New For You” and “coming Soon”. Now they have combined those categories under the name “New For You”, and they keep telling me there’s a new book out that I’d like when in reality I won’t be able to read that book for another month or three. Whose idea of a good idea was this? The new system does mean I can get lists of recommendations in Kindle format with one less click, which is slightly handy (because I do usually look for Kindle format), but in order to do that they’ve removed functionality. Not only is this a bad idea, but it distinctly conveys the idea that they’re trying to trick me into paying early for a book I can’t have yet. Bleah.

2. On the other hand, I just went and bought a Kindle book that just came out today: Redshirts, by John Scalzi. I would probably have acquired it eventually, but I bought it today fresh off the presses ether in celebration of Tor’s new policy of selling all e-books DRM-free no matter where you buy them.
