Conflicting bookery

Perhaps not the best combination: reading Vera Brittain’s Testament of Youth while my workout audiobook is Connie Willis’s Blackput. Death and destruction in all directions 🙁

And I keep hearing the refrain, “For, Willie McBride, it all happened again, and again and again and again and again.”

Through reading Vera Brittain, I discovered Winifred Holtby whose writing I fell in love with. Am reading her book of short stories now… she is wonderful. Love Vera Brittain, as well… but have you tried Holtby?

As you probably know, Winifred Holtby was Vera’s “roommate” while they were attending uni.
