Rudder’s coming home tonight, hooray, hooray,
Rudder’s coming home tonight, hooray, hooray,
Rudder’s coming home tonight, everything will be all right,
There’ll be a Rudder in my house today.
Ahem. Sorry. It’s been a long month.
Last night I couldn’t get to sleep for thinking how much I have to do, and in how short a time. I’ve got the carpet arranged for. To get the house ready to show, we still need to clear out two big bookcases, a sofabed mattress and a plastic storage chest (full) that was under the kitchen table. (That’s one reason I want to sell a car right away – to make room in the garage.) We need to move the extremely heavy family room TV. I need to take my shoe racks down. We need to get someone to prune around a bit outside and put in a few plants. I need to email everyone who might care that we’re leaving the country with our new address – just waiting until the apartment is confirmed for that. We ought to paint one wall in the family room and the hall leading into it (from yellow to beige, per the decorator), but that’s what I’ll sacrifice if I run out of time. We need to figure out exactly what goes into our suitcases, what into the 30 kg of air freight we’re each allowed, what into the shipping container that gets there 4 weeks later, and what into storage. I need to take the damn cat to the damn vet again. What I really need is a crazy cat lady who would take him in, because I honestly think the move and the 15 hours or so of flying and airports would traumatize him more than moving in with someone else locally.
Oh, there’s so much to doooo (said Portia, sounding exactly like her mother – virtual prizes if you recognize the source of that.) And so little time – I only have (ohmygosh) a week and a half left at work, then another week off before moving. No, wait – phew. 2.5 weeks left at work, so that’s a little better.
What I mean to say is, Eek! A little frazzled here. (Happily so, though.)
Welcome home, Rudder! ~LA
Wow, it’s really sneaking up! Good luck with it all. And YAY to Rudder coming home. When Morgan’s gone just a few days I’m crazy.
YAY!! Welcome home, Rudder! 🙂
