Things move apace. Yesterday we got stuff mostly settled at the bank. Today we’re staying home to finish cleaning up before the house goes on the market. (Technically I’m telecommuting but practically I only have a tiny bit of work left to do.) I’m *still* working out the paperwork for selling my little car – the bank that holds the lease hasn’t been as helpful as I’d wish, though the buyers’ bank has.
It’s amazing how many things there are in a house – photographs and tape dispensers, kitchen implements and nailfiles. And then there’s the important stuff, and all the stuff requiring decisions – what mementoes do you take, which of the knickknacks, which of the files can go and which can be stored. And so on. Complicated by the fact that I haven’t even seen the place we’re moving into, just a few pictures, though one thing I do know we’ll have far less storage there.
The going-away party was fun; unfortunately there were only a few people from my work, which wasn’t expected but meant I had to babysit a bit more than I’d have wished rather than mingling more with the other people. I did get to talk to everyone there, though, so no harm done. Last night we were taken to dinner by someone else who couldn’t make the party so that was nice as well. I am enjoying the chance to socialize more. I’ve heard back from an old college friend I hadn’t talked to for a while, too, because I included him in my “going to Europe” email, and gotten to see pics of his baby and so on.
I’ve enjoyed that part. Am not enjoying the packing and cleaning nearly as much, but I suppose I ought to get back to it.
