Only problem with carpooling together is that at the moment, Rudder’s swamped and I’m not, so we end up staying much longer than I’d like. On the other hand, since I have Internet access at work but not yet at home, I’m not minding it as much as I would otherwise. Of course, if I rode my bike in I could leave whenever, but it’s dark during both morning and evening commutes right now, and it’s cold. I used to ride my bike everywhere in college in colder weather than this, but I haven’t quite adapted yet. Maybe next week. Rudder informs me it’s a half-hour bike ride or less.
Also, what with getting home later, cooking less due to no freezer and tiny oven, and the leisurely service in local restaurants (not bad service: they just consider it rude to appear to be rushing you out) dinner takes up most of our evening. This is a good thing, except I’m not getting much knitting done and the sock has a deadline. On the other hand, I get to spend pleasant conversational evenings with my husband and it’s helped keep me from running out of reading material. Tonight on the way to dinner we’ll stop at a local bookfair someone at work told me about and see what I can pick up in English, and then we’ll go find steaks.
