I have regretfully decided that my sweater project doesn’t get to go to London. I’m sure it’s devastated, but with the yoke and a sleeve and a half complete, it’s just too bulky to take along. Instead I’m deciding between a pair of fingerless gloves (Knitty’s Fetching) or socks. I have the actual yarn the pattern calls for (I don’t think I’ve ever done that before!) for the gloves, and some Lorna’s Laces for the socks. (Come to think of it, I’d better double check that I do have enough yarn for socks. This is the second color from the trip where I mistakenly bought only one skein in each color. However, I think (and my old thinks) that I did order a second skein of this color once I found my mistake.)
I’ll probably do the gloves. They’re a faster knit (so will take less time from my sweater), and with the socks I’d either have to cast on before leaving or carry instructions for the CO I’m using. I’m just not sure I’ll use them. My first coupl eof months here when we were staying very late frequently, my hands were freezing by the end of the day. Lately, however, either because the heat’s been turned up or because we leave at more reasonable times (mostly) that hasn’t been an issue. I’m not quite sure if I have the 2 pair of size 6 circs I’ll need, but I can always use my Denises with a 6 on one end and a 5 or 7 on the other.
Not sure what pattern I’ll use for the socks. I really like Widdershins sock again, because that heel came out very well, and then do a feather and fan or this variant of it for the leg part.
