Getting ready for our regatta weekend, I’ve got the usual problem: what knitting to take? We’ll be driving up tomorrow morning (1.5 hours), then there’s the evening after racing, the time I’ll spnd hanging around Sunday waiting and watching Rudder’s singles race, Sunday evening and then driving to whatever we decide to see Monday, and on home. In other words, at least a few hours worth. I have two projects on the needles, plus a couple of languishing ones not really suitable for car knitting, and of course both have problems. The raglan sweater I showed here the other day is just a little bulky to take, though at least it does still fit in a large Zip-loc bag. I should probably take an extra ball of yarn just in case. The other project is a pair of 2-color socks that will be a gift; the problem with those is that I’m very nearly done the first one. All I need is to switch colors and do about an inch of 1×1 ribbing. If I plan to start the second one I need to take yarn for both the dark toe and the lighter foot, not to mention the notes I wrote out so they end up matching. Either way, it seems like a lot of stuff to carry around.
I hate to have yet another project going, but it’s tempting to bring the next pair of socks along. One ball, two needles, some quick instructions in case I get to the heel (unlikely) and that’s it. Except they’re a yarn I haven’t used, so it’s actually *four* needles (size 1 and 2, so I can use whichever works best).
Maybe I’ll stick with the current socks. I want portability for Sunday and with those I don’t actually have to carry all of that stuff around with me. Plus if I get them done quickly, they can go to the US along with the socks I made for Rudder’s father’s birthday. They never tell you about this problem with knitting!
About the knitting, I’ll leave it to your discretion. I’m a bit too goofy to be helpful right now. Thanks, hon, for your happiness on my behalf. I’ve given it up about trying to stay tough. The man is an angel. Mwah! ~LA
