yarn and beads

Here’s the progress to date of the mitred-square baby blanket:

And here are a few other things I made today. I think this necklace is for days when you expect to have to do a lot of waiting; it seems to be the sort of thing that provides more for the wearer to look at than for anyone else. I built it around the coolest bead I’ve ever seen, a beautifully carved cat and dragon staring at each other, that I picked up at Worldcon. I could never figure out what to do with it, so I’ve finaly put it in a dragon-trove of a necklace. Unfortunately the details don’t show well in the photos. On the opposite side of the necklace is a bone bead with cats slinking up and down; there are assorted other glass cats and a couple of fish, a butterfly, agate, jasper, silver, mother of pearl, freshwater pearl, fake pearl, lampworked glass, faceted glass, sunstone, plastic, labradorite, turquoise (probably fake), quartz, malachite, azurite, bone, and probably other stuff.

Finally there are earrings, of stone roses, silver and glass.

Really loving the necklace and earrings. I overdosed on those baby blankets back in the 70’s so not crazy about them to this day, but whomever it is being made for, I’m sure, will love it.
