This is probably not a good idea, but I’m rowing tonight in the double. I’m still coughing and sneezing and running from the nose. Earlier today I couldn’t take a deep breath without coughing, like when you have exercise-induced asthma, but the Sudafed seems to have helped with that. (Sudafed: another product not sold here, though they do have Actifed which is probably close enough.)
But we have a race a week from Saturday, and I haven’t been on the water in two weeks. I should be OK as long as I don’t row too hard (which may be difficult with my gung-ho partner, and also because we have a coach scheduled to come with us today).
At least it’s an opportunity to practice my Dutch. My partner said the coach doesn’t speak much ENglish; of course she can translate but I’m trying to memorize the following statement: “Ik ben verkouden; ik moet niet hard roeien anders ga ik erg hoesten.” (I have a cold; I must not row hard or I will have a bad cough.)
