The worst part about writing reports of our trips is that uploading the photo takes for-freakin’-ever if I use WordPress’s upload feature. I could upload them much faster via Fugu (a very nice Mac FTP app) and I should just go back to doing it that way. – it’s just that the WP method handles them much more nicely once they’re up there. It doesn’t really take a lot of my attention; I just choose a file, hit Upload, then come back a few minutes later. It takes anywhere from 30 second to ten minutes. However, it seems to hang up more than half the time, so I have to re-Upload it and wait again.
Once I’ve got all the photos up and te text written (which also takes longer than you’d think) the entry will be over at Avontuur.
I got a fair bit done on Rudder’s socks during the trip; the first one is done and I turned the heel on the second last night after we got home. It’s a combination of Wendy’s basic slipstitch-heel toe-up sock pattern, but with an Eye of Partridge heel and with the ribbing pattern from the Retro Rib pattern in Favorite Socks.
Now things get really crazy; in the next two months I have to train everybody (all project leaders in the company) on the stuff I’ve been working on, plan out how to turn over everything else I’ve worked on to others in my department, host Rudder’s parents for a week, drop them off in paris and do another driving trip, this time meandering from Paris to Munich via Austria and Switzerland, transition to my new department, do formal and informal training, visit a few small customer-support sites in Europe, go to Taiwan and find an apartment, and pack up everything for moving. Oh, and find a new home for the cat.
Yikes, and I thought I was busy!
