Based on a very helpful comment on the previous post and a bit of follow-up web research, I think I have bronchitis. I should have figured this out earlier, given that if I’m not mistaken it’s one of those medical terms that’s merely descriptive. Inflammation of the brnchial tubes – yeah, I have that. The etiology makes sense, too, after very dry air in the Netherlands and on the plane home, followed by noticeably pollouted air here. Add in an immune system that might possibly be suppressed a hair by stress. (Yeah, you think?)
The corollary is that it’s most likely viral and will most likely be going away on its own fairly soon. However, the pollution is still around, and at least some of the stress (not moving any more, but living as an alien), and bronchitis can possibly lead to nastiness like pneumonia or asthma, so don’t worry, I will be visiting the doctor. The appointment is tomorrow afternoon.
