rooming with the Rock

Rudder may need to get his own room when he gets to town. I’m pretty much spread out all over this one. I’ve done something I hardly ever do in hotel rooms: unpacked. Then again, I hardly ever stay in one for more than a few nights, since our longest vacations tend to be road trips.

It’s pretty well confirmed I’ll be here into April; I was planning to ask if I can get an apartment, but it occurred to me this evening that I’d gain a kitchen and laundry but lose the hotel gym (which has an erg). I’m not sure it’s worth it, especially since my colleagues from Taiwan are in apartments and I can probably beg the use of laundry facilities from one of them.

I do have company here in the room: Snoopy was too large to come along in my overpacked suitcase, but I brought the penguin I bought at the same time. By the way, his name was obvious, since he came home with Snoopy. He is Rockstock. Because penguins don’t build their nests with wood.

I am really wondering why they moved you to Taiwan! Seems like you spend more time in the Netherlands. Should have kept your place in E. and ‘visited’ the Asian office as necessary. heh. The ways of big time corporate are mysterious. Still, while not exactly homey, the thought of a longish month with daily maid service sounds lovely. At least to this housebound hausfrau. 😉

Plus daffodils already! (I did find the first snow drop crocus yesterday… Yay! But we’re still at least 6 weeks from daffodils.)

I rather like the idea of offering my own birthday treats to co-workers. Very sensible and still fun. Hope your birthday is a good ‘un. I know it’s next week, the 11th(?), but one can never be too early to be glad a good friend is here for another year. Thanks for the encouragement, it’s been some seriously rough going recently. ~LA
