attempted socialization

Back home, and I need to take steps toward an actual social life. This weekend we’re going to a work outing. It was going to be a cultural thing, touring a Hakka village and having a traditional lunch, until one of the organizers went to scope out the place and found that it was hot and full of mosquitoes and the lunch was extremely unimpressive. So now the outing involves a hike up in the mountains, a ‘green shower'(I have no idea, but at least it’s not yellow), lunch in air conditioning,, karaoke, and a spa option (again, not sure how this is different from the green shower.) Rudder is less than thrilled about the last two items, but I think we’ll have a good time and it will be nice to be up in the mountains.

I’ve asked a colleague and his wife to go out with us for dumplings one day next week. Someday in the fairly near future I want to organize a stitch’n’bitch at my place, though I intend to leave it open to needlepointers and anyone with portable handicrafts rather than only knitters and crocheters. Then once it gets a bit cooler in a couple of months, I’m going to invite my colleagues out to try rowing> the new boat is an open water / rec shell, so it’s suitable for beginners, then Rudder or I can row alongside in his boat. Since at least six people helped with some part of getting my boat and oars delivered, I think I owe them!

Good idea to include in any/all handcrafters! Sometimes a new hobby love or inspiration for your own projects comes in surprising ways. ~LA
