rowing sock, mark I

I’ve finally finished my first Rowing Sock. As I’ve said, you can’t really see the pattern well, though Colinette Jitterbug is a pretty yarn. (Actually just for looks, the sock may be better inside out, though then the cabling doesn’t show.) Rudder helped me take some pictures; you can’t really see the oar that extends along the side of the foot and into the gusset in these, but you can see a bit of the boats on the front (a quad on the foot and a single on the leg), the wake pattern between the boats, and the ripple cable on the back and how it flows into the cuff (I’m very happy with that and the wavy picot bindoff.) I’ve done something unusual for me: instead of starting immediately on the second sock, I’ve begun a new Rowing Sock in plain blue Meilenweit cotton/wool yarn. The pattern shows up much better. Once that’s done I’ll post the pattern as a free PDF, though I doubt there will be much call for it. I had to adjust to 60 stitches for the Jitterbug, 64 for the Meilenweit, so I’ll post both versions of the charts.

Gorgeous yarn! The work is lovely too. I’m awed by your ever increasing skill. Now with my new glasses and being able to see well enough to do close work I’m looking forward to getting back to my own handcrafts and your entry is inspiring me to get busy. Thanks! ~LA

It looks great! I love the colors. I have some Jitterbug in the stash but haven’t used it yet.
