Things I do not understand about this weekend:
1. Why every decision about how to carry boats on our car has to be an argument. Mostly I think he just has an allergy to doing anything the simple way. (We have a rack for one boat. My solution for carrying the other one: cut large foam chunk into smaller chunks so it fits between racks on top of car. Put foam on car. Put boat on foam. Strap down to roof. His involves shaping the foam to cradle the boat perfectly. It’s my open water boat, which is both sturdier and flatter than our racing shells.)
2. Why regattas attract bad weather so consistently. Weather Underground is predicting Tropical Storm Three (not sure if that’s the designation of this storm or a category) for both Saturday and Sunday.
3. Why we have so much trouble coming up with food to race on when deprived of the availability of Power Bars and their ilk.
Things I do not understand more generally:
1. How people knit lace shawls in a week. I have four rows of the last chart to go, plus four finishing rows and the bindoff, and blocking. I might have been able to finish this weekend, if we didn’t have the regatta.
2. Why I am still living in a hot climate even though I have been trying to move to a cooler one since approximately 1991.
3. Why living in a hot climate so often involves freezing while in the office.
Ed. forgot one:
4. Why almost every time I walk past the men’s toilet at work it sounds like someone’s being sick in there. I mean, every time every day. Is the cafeteria food even worse than I think?
