blah. being married to management sucks.

Just found out that the spouse will be leaving early next week for over two weeks away, including our 16th anniversary, for Big Suddenly Important work thing.

Note: I scheduled my LASIK when I did on the theory that he would be around until somewhere in August, in case I had any issues with my vision that would preclude driving. I haven’t, not from the LASIK, anyway. (Ocular migraines both Sunday night and Monday morning, blah. Can’t drive if I can’t see, but can’t plan for those – and these were the first in three months.)

He called to ask my opinion on travel dates. What the hell am I supposed to say to that? There’s no right answer, since the choices are limited to “I don’t want you to go but I know you will anyway as we don’t have major plans or crippling illnesses” or “Oh, yes! I’m happy for you to go!” Not sure which he’d prefer least.

That bites. And it’s a singularly U.S. holiday to boot, so you won’t even get the other kind of fireworks either. (heh)

I always wondered how the ex-SIL and her hub managed- she was ALWAYS traveling for work and forever moving the family to some new place, only to leave them there to travel for work so much it hardly seemed fair. BIL and the nephews were stuck in the new town/state and SIL was hardly around anyhow. This was why BIL was the househusband, btw, somebody had to be around for the kids, SIL was in China or Scotland or Belgium or….

About the boat toting, I’d say it’s an engineer thing but since you’re an engineer too I’ll say it must be a guy thing. When I was working with Mike I was forever hacking through his self-made Gordian knots which always seemed to involve ripping out and re-routing miles of pipe and wiring, drilling through foundations, etc, etc, and most of the fixes were dead simple dealies requiring three pipe straps and some flex. Sheesh.

Anyhow, sorry about your anniversary, but glad to hear your eyes are healing well. ~LA
