Yesterday’s workout has left me about as sore as I’ve ever been – I mean, walking hurts – and I don’t really understnad why. I did the first workout in The New Rules of Lifting for Women, but it’s not like I haven’t been working out. (Well, I hadn’t for the past couple of weeks due to vacation, which is part of it.)
The workout included a lot more reps in each set than I’d been doing, 15 vs 5, but I lightened my weights to compensate. It included squats (I always do squats!), low row (ditto), pushups (I am a weenie and did them on an incline), step-ups, and prone jackknifes, which is the thing where you put your palms on the floor, feet on a Swiss ball, and being your knees to your chest. I suspect the step-ups are the reason for the extreme soreness; for some reason lunges also always kick my butt, and it’s a similar thing. Weird though.
And also, ow ow ow ow ow.
