Today has been a day of virtue; I have spent no money at all. (First time this week I can say that!) I went to the boathouse this morning and erged 10K – should really have rowed, since it was a gorgeous morning, but when I got there nobody was around to help carry boats and the quarters in the boathouse are tight enough that I’m not completely comfortable carrying a single (that doesn’t belong to me) by myself. And I have a pot of chili cooking – I’ll probably have some tonight and then invite a couple of visiting Taiwanese colleagues over to eat it during the week. First use of the new Le Creuset pot!
Also, at the different housewares stores I visited in search of a wine rack over the last two days, I learned that the great sale price I found at the department store is exactly the same as the normal price everywhere else for that pot. Oh, well, at least I didn’t pay more for it! (If it hadn’t been on sale I’d have looked around a bit before buying.) Now I’m slightly lusting after the mini version, but that’s mostly because it’s so cute. I have no idea what I’d make with it, though they do have a cookbook just of mini-cocotte/Dutch over/stoofpot recipes.
I did have an unfortunate realization about yesterday’s clothing purchases: depending how you count them, I just acquired something 10-15 different outfits that are all without pockets. Oops. I suppose in an emergency I could tuck a cell phone into the top of the leggings.
