it begins

Funny – the first channel I found the game on was in German, of which I understand even less than I do Dutch. SO I was scouting around for a local channel and I found one, all right – Omroep Brabants, the channel of this province. They were not exactly showing the game – what they showed was the crowd 5 minutes away fro me watching the giant screen in the plaza. It feels very odd seeing your neighborhood live on TV.

The game seems a bit slow so far, like both teams are sort of testing each other. I have to say, I know the players exaggerate every injury in hopes of penalties on the other team – but it still looks pretty painful when you end up sort of unintentionally vaulting an opponent and flying two meters.

The level of ball control is amazing – one player just kicked it backward over his head and still got it to a teammate.

Uh-oh, yellow card on the Dutch – I don’t think he quite meant to slide into the Spanish player like that but I can see why the card.
