that Stan Rogers has a son, Nathan, who performs in his own right? His first album, True Stories, came out way back in 2005; his second, Gauntlet, came out last year. They’re mostly originals, but there’s Three Fishers on the first album, and The Puddler’s Tale on the second.
And he’s got the family voice.
I’ve bought both albums (the second one is available only as individual tracks on iTunes, or as CD or ZIP file from Borealis Records). A quick skip through the first album has everything from a rollicking country sound that reminds me of Stan’s early work to ballads and Kennedys style pop (Pete and Maura, not the Dead ones). The second album has all that plus Tuvan throat singing. Yay!
ETA: Youtube has a ton of Nathan singing Stan, as well as Nathan singing Nathan. Song of the Candle is the one that pulled tears from me, but it kept getting stuck in the middle. Northwest Passage (sorry, embedding of this one is disabled) – and no, that isn’t Stan. Here’s something completely different, a throat-singing jam. And here’s Song of the Candle – it seems to be playing OK now, so I think my connection just bobbled.
