Well, I stayed home again today. I’m still coughing and this morning I was retching up gunk; I thought about the big staff meeting I have first thing Monday mornings, thought about coughing up crap in there, and decided it wasn’t going to happen. Also, I saw a spot of blood (or could it have been dye from the Nyquil?) in there, so I finally went to the doctor today. He told me my lungs were clear, there was no sign of infection and it was only a cold, but told me I’d done right to come in to make sure there weren’t any lung issues (actually he said “wound in my lungs”; not quite sure what that was intended to mean). It was also useful because he was able to recommend what OTC meds to take since I don’t know the ones here and can’t well read the descriptions. Hopefully the medicines plus another helping of my chicken soup will have me in better shape for work tomorrow.
Meanwhile, aside from going to the doctor’s it’s been another sofa day. Facing work tomorrow would be much easier if I could take my couch with me. At least my office situation should be better starting next week; instead of being in a semi-open office with waaaay too many people (five in my segment and my back to the room, two more in alcoves on one side and another five on the other) I’ll be in an office with two other people and a small table for meetings. Even better, the other people won’t be there yet – one starts in April, not sure when the others will come. Open offices definitely increase my misanthropic tendencies.
