knitpics, lots of them

After the trip to Japan, one week back, the trip to the US, and then a weekful of department meetings, I was way behind and way tired. This has been a catching up weekend. On sleep (10 hours Friday night plus a nap yesterday, and I’m not normally a napper), on rowing (13km on the erg yesterday and 8km of intervals in the boat today), of cooking (the goulash recipe I’ve been meaning to try since we went to Budapest) and projects. It’s been a long, long time since I posted any pictures of knitted objects – I couldn’t show one baby blanket until they’d gotten to their recipients (well, the babies wouldn’t have read my blog, but parents do!) and I don’t think I ever did post both pair of the socks I made for Mother’s Day either. (I haven’t given my nephew his blanket yet, but I’m going to bank on my brother being too busy to read LJ – Alex, if I guessed wrong, either don’t look or pretend you didn’t.) So here goes – lots of photos below the cut:

Skew socks for my mom:

I made Clematis socks for my MIL. I could have sworn we took pictures of both mothers with their socks on, but I can’t find them so I have only a halfway photo (they looked a lot better when complete):

Baby blanket for E, whose parents are both Purdue alumni and huge fans:

Baby blanket for my mini-nephew (who is now up to nearly 7 pounds, more than double his birth weight!) – pictures are front and back, respectively:

Broccowli, which I finished on our last trip to the US – the first picture is closest to accurate color but the second may show details better:

And finally a UFO (unfinished object); this is my Carnaby skirt, with 8.5 of an estimated 15 panels done. I do hope I have enough yarn! This is with flash and without; the color is somewhere between the two:
