I had a tooth break on Saturday (don’t they always wait for weekends?) After some investigation (I called a couple of friends and then ended up walking into the VVV (tourist information bureau)) it turned out that the emergency dental clinic is actually in another city. What had broken off was the back wall of a molar tooth; the filling inside was still mostly there and it didn’t hurt, so I decided to just chew on the other side and wait for Monday.
To make it clear that this was an Important! Emergency! I decided to walk into the dental office at 8AM when they opened on Monday morning, instead of just calling. They were able to make an appointment at 9, and I’d brought my Kindle, so I just waited there instead of going back home. Luckily, it turned out that the tooth could be fixed with just a filling and wouldn’t need a crown. Since the dentist told me the anesthetic would linger for another 3-4 hours, I decided to work from home rather than drooling and gibbering around the office.
It’s now noon, and the anesthetic still hasn’t worn off notably. The most annoying part is that now my lip itches – but it’s still numb, so though I can feel the itch, I can’t feel it when I scratch it. Bodies are strange.
Sorry about your tooth. Glad it was a reasonably quick fix. ~LA
