Still here

The new job continues apace. I’m still figuring our where I fit in – everyone, including me, has a different idea of what my job should be (they did have someone else in this role but he left a while back and there’s been a merger since then, and I don’t think he was here long enough to put his own stamp on the job).

One thing that’s taking some adjustment is that in these last months I’ve been used to being online all day, every day, but the Internet is locked down firmly tight here. I don’t have that horrible feeling of being cut off from the world that would once have given me, since my smartphone makes it easy to check email or whatever when I walk between buildings, and I do have the connectivity I need to do my job – I think it’s not being able to look up facts I need that’s bugged me most at other times I wasn’t connected.

Meanwhile, no one can stop you from doodling, so I’ve been experimenting with zentangles during the inevitable slow times of a new job. Or rather “zentangle-insured art”, because I’m not enacted if the idea of official ($49!) kits and official patterns and paper and pens. Though I did break down and buy some Sakura Pigma Micron pens (yes, the official ones) because I didn’t have any that gave a fine consistent line, and new pens are always nice to have. Especially when they’re $12 for 5 at Amazon. Here’s my first attempt with the new pen.
