I was just realizing that I don’t feel like I’m richer or better traveled at the end of this year that I was at it’s beginning, which makes it a change from the last several. Not a bad year, though, I guess…. We began living in the US, bought a house, furnished it, settled in, got a couple of cats. I wrote and sold a book and got a new job. I’ve read lots of good books.
Not a great year athletically; I only raced once, though Ted did more, and we haven’t done anything else but erg – no climbing, skiing or hiking. We did finish yet another Holiday Challenge, though. Our social life here isn’t what I’d like it to be, but I did meet a few people I like. Work had a distressing number of layoffs, but the prospects ahead look brighter and I’m excited about the projects I’m working on. Our families have faced some health issues; everyone seems OK for the moment, though some are frail enough that I worry that could change. We did get to see all of them including a small niece and nephew we hadn’t met before.
All in all, it’s been OK – and the excitement of the Book would redeem a much worse year. Next year, I look forward to seeing it get published, to those work projects I mentioned, hopefully some travel, and hopefully making more friends here.
