My second colorwork ever, the Norwegian rose pattern from Wendy Johnson’s Toe-Up Socks for Every Body using Knitpicks Stroll in Lantana and a kettle-dyed black they don’t seem to have listed at the moment. I’m still having some trouble getting the tension even; it really shows in the sole and on the side panels, though you can tell I’ve gotten better at it over the course of the sock.
All things considered, it was a very good idea to practice on these socks before I dive into a whole Norwegian sweater for Ted. Even on this small project it worked best for me to hold the yarn in two different ways; both times I ended up with one yarn in each hand (I normally knit Continental) but to do the ribbing at the top I had to switch which color was in which hand and use a combined method (Annie Modesitt’s, where you wrap the yarn clockwise on purls to allow scooping up the yarn when it’s held in your left hand).
WOW! That’s amazing work. ~LA
