random good, predicted bad

I did a random good deed today. Someone I know of was hurt recently by a random stranger, so I hope a kindness from another random stranger will bring her a little healing. I don’t want to discuss it in detail, because I think in this case that ‘random stranger’ thing may be important. But – it cost me a couple of dollars, one email to check feasibility and a total of about five minutes. I think I got good value for that price, paid out in the pleasure and accomplishment of having done a good thing. I do hope it has the effect intended.

Otherwise, the bad is that Ted leaves today. Predictably, as soon as my nice warm husband is out of here, the temperatures are due to drop drastically. The good is that, though UPS’s delivery procedures here are entirely unreasonable (they can deliver any time, can’t give you a specific time, only deliver M-F during office hours, and after three attempts they give up and return the package) I have figured out how to get my new Swift bag – I set it up with them to deliver Wednesday and I will work from home that day. I don’t think the good quite balances the bad, but retail therapy is at least temporarily cheering.
