Well, ow. First I didn’t have the weight set because it was in Taiwan. Then I needed to build up my erg distance, then there was the Holiday Challenge. Now that’s all over, yesterday I did my first weight workout in months and months (I started back with set 1, workout A in The New Rules of Lifting for Women). Today I am predictably sore, though a short erg piece and a bikeride to and from the boathouse (for a social thing) helped a bit. I did go light on the squats, only 60 lbs for 2 sets of 15 reps each, but my legs and butt are not too happy with me. My upper half is a little sore from push-ups and low row, but since i Have been rowing all along that’s not as bad.
Otherwise it’s been a productive weekend, though a slightly sad one as Ted’s back to Taiwan for a couple of weeks. Still, I’ve only got one more weekend on my own, and it can be fun to have alone time now and then. We must still have been tired from travel as we slept until nearly 10 yesterday morning, which is unheard of for us. It turned out useful, as I was then out until 1:30 AM on a pub crawl for a friend’s birthday. I woke up by 9:30 this morning not feeling awful so I conclude I successfully managed not to overindulge. Today’s just been a quiet day: an erg piece, making chili, lots of knitting, and a quick stop at the boathouse for the rowing club’s New Year’s Borrel (drink). Later this week these’s another friend’s birthday at a bar in the town where we work, then on Friday I have an offsite meeting in yet another village. I’m a little anxious about all that driving in unfamiliar places, but I suppose it’ll be OK.
