We got Mom off to the aiport this morning, so today is a day to rest (or not. Erg, actually) and do laundry in preparation for picking our next guests up early tomorrow morning. Thankfully it turns out that their flight is not due in at 6AM as we’d originally thought but at 8:05. We still have to leave at 6, because they’re flying into Amsterdam, but that beats having to leave at 4.
Mom’s visit went well, I think. Toward the end she went into protective-mother mode following me around the Rijksmuseum (I think she spent more time watching me than looking at paintings) and over the trip I went into protective-daughter mode in picking up more of the checks than I should have. But she got to spend a few days relaxing in Eindhoven and then to see most of the major attractions in Amsterdam (possibly a new speed record), and a think she enjoyed herself. She’s bck to London for another few days now, all on her very own. I hope that now she’s ventured across the Atlantic by herself now, she’ll try it again sometime – maybe even to come see us in Taiwan.
Oh, lovely! I hope your mom does indeed feel confident enough to brave more trips.
