the daily round

The book work is nearly done until proofs begin arriving. I’ve vetted the cover and the catalog copy, finished the Author Questionnaire and only need to write and link to a couple more blog posts. (Glad I didn’t rush into those, because yesterday evening I figured out a great way to explain process systems clearly.) So other than those posts, the work left ahead of me at present consists mostly of house management (including cleaning and cooking and meal planning and laundry, but also things like boat repair and getting someone out to get moss off the roof of the lake house), erging (still on the accelerated marathon training plan, and I’ve more or less caught back up to schedule after what I missed due to the food poisoning episode), and applying for jobs.

I have a new idea: what if I get to take a day off every day? I should be able to get everything done and yet be able to take off from one of those things (not counting daily cooking and the minimum cleaning up after) every single day. Today I’ve already erged and I need to clean the floors here, plan some dinners, and go food shopping[1] so no job apps for me today.

Rawr! Freedom!

(incidentally the Dutch for grocery shopping is boodschappen doen. I just love the way that sounds, much more resonant than it looks. It’s close to boh-d’-schop-eh DOON.)
