coughing and spinning

Figures that as soon as I posted about not finding a lettuce crisper we came across a salad spinner for cheap. I still don’t feel any particular need to send my lettuce on a thrill ride, but this was cheap (about US$12) and provides the storage I do need.

Uncle update: now he’s in the ICU 🙁 He’d progressed to solid food and was just ready to go home when his kidney function started declining and he started to sound groggy, instead of perfectly alert as he had been, so they moved him to the ICU for close monitoring. Apparently he’s got a gallbladder infection, and is not producing enough red blood cells because of the cancer – low blood volume may have caused the kindney problem, ar shock as a result of surgery. I don’t think he’ll be going home for at least several days. I updated his blog (while in ICU he doesn’t have computer access) and sent out email to some of his friends, so hopefully they’ll be able to call or visit. I think that will help his spirits a lot.

The three medicines the doctor gave me Friday do seem to be helping a bit with the coughing and nose-blowing, but I do think they knock me out a bit. Getting up for work this morning wasn’t fun and I’m hoping I won’t be as crabby this afternoon as I have been the past few days, for my co-workers’ sake as well as my own.
