This sock hates me, or maybe my brain hates this sock. I don’t know why; I’m not absolutely crazy about the color, but the Koigu is very pleasant to knit with. I already had to rip out about an inch and a half, everything past the toe, earlier today when I realized I had been knitting the lace pattern all the way around, on a toe-up sock. Lace underfoot is not good to walk on. But I peservered and got back to where I’d been while watching the erging today, and did serveral more rows this evening.
Now I get to rip the whole damn thing out, because when I went to compare this one to the frist sock to see how long I had until I start the heel (Long. I knew that.) I realized I’d cast on about the same number of stitches as for the little-girl sock I did with the end of the previous skein, *not* the same as the adult sock I’m knitting. The tow of th 2nd sock was way pointier than the first. Also, I’ve been knitting too tightly; I only had size 1 needles when I started, and I think the Koigu could really use size 2, so I made a conscious effort to kni the first sock especially loosely. I can feel a difference; he fabric of of the first sock is softer and much less stiff. (I could rip only most of it out and make this one the little-girl sock, but it wouldn’t save me that much knitting.) I’ve done most of this sock in company, beginning it at the knitting group Wednesday and then doing a lot today. At least I’m apparently putting people ahead of my needlework.
There, the sock is reduced to its component string. I think restarting it is a job better done tomorrow.
Eek! It does seem that the sock is out to get you. I realized after finishing a second sock the other night that it is slightly pointier than the first, but I decided I didn’t care enough to undo my Kitchenering. (It’s only very slightly pointier. 🙂 )
