It’s going to be a navigation-heavy weekend (also, a pleasant and social one). Tonight someone I row with has invited me for dinner. Her husband is also a rower, and the family lived in Taipei for a few years so there will be plenty to talk about. Getting there might be tricky; it’s not all that far from work but it’s in a small town and there are lots of little turns, but at least the directions seem good.
Saturday I will row; the person who replaced me in our quad is busy or away so it will be back to the original boat I raced with last fall. Should be fun and I don’t have to navigate then, because it’s a coxed quad. (Rare in the US, common here because of the narrow canals.)
(Notes to self: call in-laws tonight for birthdays, parents tomorrow for Passover.) I haven’t decided what to have for dinner Saturday night; it won’t be Pasadic, that’s for certain. Maybe tapas would be evocative of a Seder plate?
Then Sunday evening I have to get to a church in Rotterdam for a friend’s confirmation. I don’t want to drive, not without a GPS or someone to navigate. I have directions to take the metro, but I think if the weather is reasonable I might go early and walk out to the Euromast, then go up it one more time, since the church is very close to it.
