finally home and back online

It is nice to have a weekend to decompress before having to go back to work, though I did check work email today. (Internet access is expensive in Aussie hotels!!) My goals for the weekend are: unpack (done); Costco (done, since it’s less jammed on a weekday evening); download photos (mostly done); laundry (started); blog the trip (started) and upload photos; and start the sleeve on the sweater I’m knitting.

Oh, also sleeping late and popcorn for breakfast*. And quite possibly no working out. I think I can handle that.

Also, maybe I should go looking for uncle-photos and send my mom any good ones. But for now, to bed.

*What? why is popcorn with butter and salt any less nutritious and breakfasty than sugary corn puffs?

Actually popcorn in milk was the first breakfast cereal here during colonial times. Took a while for other grain cultivation to catch up. Hard to make oatmeal with no oats.

Welcome back. Looking forward to hearing about your trip! ~LA

PS: Thank you. Gram’s death has been hard on all of us.

Popcorn is a reasonable breakfast. So is this: I used to make “dip,” that is, sour cream with salt and seasonings for the kids to eat with bite-sized shredded wheat. It was their “grown-up” breakfast.
