busy-nesses and lost things

For some reason, today sounds like an annoyingly busy day. I have meetings until 5:30, then I have to go home and erg. I should do 10km, which is an hour nad a half when you add in the shower afterward. Then I want to get Chinese take-out so I will probably go there and order, drop by the grocery for a few things, pick up the food. After I eat, I also need to look up some information to begin our taxes, finish a baby sock, and begin the sleeve I cast on Sunday. Or begin a second sock – I need one or the other for knitting tomorrow. The feeling of busy-ness is probably added to by having gone to a friend’s for dinner last night and having knitting night tomorrow – they’re things I enjoy of course, but still stuff to deal with. (Also, I suspect I left a scarf at my friend’s.)

Speaking of scarves and annoyances, stuff keeps disapppearing on me. There was a box of scarves on top of the stack of boxes in our bedrom and it doesn’t seem to be there now. I did take out the scarves I expected to wear most, but this mrning I wanted a different one and it wasn’t there. Also, of all the too-many plain t-shirts I have, my favorite is a light gray long-sleeved one from the Gap. I may even have two; one had developed a tiny hole so I bought a replacement and I’m not sure if I threw the original out. Now I can’t find either one. I don’t *think* I took it to the US but it is possible. I still have a light-gray turtleneck, a dark gray long-sleeved T, a light gray short-sleeved T and a ridiculous number of white ones. There is no dearth of T-shirts in my closet. Still, this was a favorite and its absense is annoying.

There is a third thing missing (and a fourth, I guess). I have some over-the-knee balck boots, and when I bought them, I bought some boot trees to keep them standing and supported. Yesterday I wore them to work, and left the boot trees on the floor, convenient for putting away. Our cleaning service, who come unpredictably on Monday or Tuesday, seem to have decided to put those away somewhere. Now if only I could find where…..
