a thank you

To those who wrote comments in my uncle’s blog and to those who are keeping him in their good wishes.

When I spoke to him last night, he was doing well, beginning to sit up and looking ahead to starting the chemo study. His main doctor said it wasn’t that there was a huge amount of cancer, just that it was in locations that were hard to get to and taking out the organs wouldn’t have helped.

He hadn’t checked his mail yet; I told him to but didn’t tell him about the surprise waiting there; I think he’ll be as moved as I was by the variety of people who have posted comments – just of the people I recognize, there are people from at least three continents, at least a couple of cancer survivors and several who have been through it with friends and family, people using real names, people using internet pseudonyms, new and old friends of mine and my brother’s and my uncle’s own, all saying pretty much the same thing: “You are not alone”.

Thank you, all.
