Frrst, in case you missed the previous post, thankso those commented in my uncle’s blog or who otherwise sent good thoughts and wishes.
Weird little health issues:
I realized this morning that somewhere in the last day or two my vertigo has gone away. I don’t know if it left by itself or I finally got that Epley manever thing right, but either way, yay! My foot still hurts enough when I walk on to to keep me in flat and very supportive shoes – there was a noticeable swelling the other day after I spent a few hours in ballet flats with an elastic band across the top of the foot – but it doesn’t hurt enough to keep me from walking reasonable amounts. I’m not ready to go hiking yet, but I can see that day coming. The cough is still here, but since this morning I’ve only coughed when there was crap to cough up, not as part of a pointless paroxysm. I don’t know if that means it’s getting better or worse but I’m hoping for better. My stomach muscles still hurt from so much coughing.
Exercise:
Yesterday I did some eensy weight-lifting for the first time since packing up the weight set here, which means it’s the fist time in ages. I didn’t want to erg to warm up (because of the cough) so to make sure I was all stretched out and going the full range of motion, the main thing I did was ass-to-grass squats with a bare bar. Also some crunches and low rows; I might have thrown in a few more exercises, but my uncle called.
Knitting:
I’ve started a pair of DK-weight socks for Rudder; am thinking of the gusset and heel from the Diamond Waffle socks, adjusted for gauge, and the ribbing from Thuja. I think I’d like to statr something else too, something with a much bigger gauge for variety. I’d like to use some of the yan I’ve been given in the past year; options are a cardigan in Manos (swatched for this Sunday; the colors are gorgeous), a Booga Bag in Kureyon, or something with 3 skeins of chunky Cascade 128 (since I have no use for more scarves and no one to give them to, felted slippers are a possibility). I’d also like to do a Chemo cap for my uncle, but need to find a store here or order yarn for that.
Surreality:
Don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before but we have a work holiday party tomorrow. At Hooters Taipei. And the dress code is “Western Cowboy”. I think this may be a little strange….
Will there be pictures of the Western Cowboy themed Hooters Christmas party? Because that is so wrong on so many levels.
A summary would be good, too. 🙂
